Company — About Efarms

Built to industrialise a fragmented crop.

Efarms exists to move medicinal and aromatic plant agriculture in Türkiye out of small, weather-dependent open fields and into engineered, year-round production that pharmaceutical and cosmetics buyers can build on.

The story

From a fragmented supply to an industrial standard.

Medicinal and aromatic plants have been grown in Anatolia for centuries — but almost entirely in small open fields, with yields set by the weather, chemistry that varies from one batch to the next, and a chain of intermediaries between the grower and the buyer. Industrial buyers in Europe cannot build a product on that.

Efarms was founded to change the unit of production: a controlled-environment facility engineered as a single industrial asset, growing selected species hydroponically to a specified chemical profile, processing the harvest on site, and selling the finished input directly.

That principle produced the company we are today — an agricultural developer and operator. We design and build projects, we run them, and we take our income from the profit they generate rather than from the capital they consume. Our own project in Silivri is where the standard is proven before it is offered to anyone else.

Where the Silivri project stands

20% complete

Phase-1 completion

  1. Phase 01

    Land secured

61,372 m² in Çeltik Village, Silivri, on the European side of Istanbul — chosen for climate, water and access to the TEM highway and the Muratbey and Çerkezköy customs points.

  2. Phase 02

    Design & permits

Greenhouse engineering, hydroponic and climate systems, and the agricultural, environmental and construction approvals a facility of this size requires.

  3. Phase 03

Construction & equipment — built and equipped

Structure, covering, hydroponic systems, fertigation, heating and cooling and control equipment are installed for the current phase. This is where the project stands today.

  4. Phase 04

Commissioning: electrical works & first planting

Electrical works and the first seedling planting remain before production starts. The feasibility study places first harvest and first revenue roughly three months after installation is completed.

  5. Phase 05

    Full 49,000 m² build-out

The remaining production area is built out as capital is deployed, followed by expansion beyond the current site.

Efarms describes the project as built and equipped for the current phase — never as producing — until the first planting is in the ground.

Why Silivri

A farm at the western gate of Istanbul.

Silivri sits where agricultural land, industrial infrastructure and export logistics overlap — a rare combination, and the main reason the site was chosen.

On the TEM corridor

Direct access to the trans-European motorway running west into Europe and east into Anatolia.

Two customs gateways

The Muratbey and Çerkezköy customs points are both close, so export documentation and loading happen near the farm rather than across the city.

Gateway to Europe

Fresh and processed output can reach EU distribution in days — which is what makes perishable botanical supply commercially serious.

Istanbul on the doorstep

Skilled agronomy, technical labour, laboratories and the domestic market are all within reach of the site.

Leadership

Governance you can look at.

Efarms is governed by an executive board, a scientific advisory board, and a financial and Sharia advisory committee. Their composition and remit are published on the governance page.
